Villa Park Community Access began serving the City of Villa Park in 1985.
The oldest running program is Meet the Mayor with host Jim Christensen. Each month the mayor meets with Jim to discuss current issues in the city. Very often the mayor will invite another guest or guests to share in the discussions.
As a public service to the community, VPTV broadcasts live, the fourth Tuesday of each month, the Villa Park City Council meetings. These are taped and rebroadcast through out the month. Other council appointed committees and special meetings of council are also aired live and replayed to the community. The city does not have a government channel so the VPTV Board of Directors makes arrangements for these meetings to be taped so the citizens can stay current with the city's activities.
Other programming includes programs from Villa Park High School, cooking programs, special events, sports programming, and programs produced by residents.
Anyone living in the city of Villa Park can bring in a program they feel is of value to their fellow residents. If citizens have ideas for programing but do not know how to go about producing their idea, they are welcome to contact VPTV at 714-998-4880 for information. The Board of Directors meets the first Wednesday of each month and members of the community may attend the meeting and share their ideas with the board.
Many of the VPTV productions are by the Villa Park High School Media Class. These award winning students take on every aspect of TV production to help make VPTV productions of the highest quality.
