Call: Structure Fire

On December 19, 1998, Engine 223 was covering the station for Engine 23 while they were on a call in the city of Orange. Approximately 15 minutes into the cover the bells go off for a reported structure fire off Patrician street in Villa Park.  The call was soon updated to a Garage Fire at the end of the street.  Upon arriving on scene, 3 minuets after being dispatched, Captain Grogger took IC and gave an superb size up of the scene. Grogger immediately gave Firefighter Nelson the order to advance the 200' pre connect to the garage where the fire was rolling out of the front of the garage.  Engineer Drobish and Firefighter Ellis connected the engine to the hydrant at the end of the street and then supplying the pre connect within a minute.  The fire was knocked down in no time, showing that the volunteer firefighters on Engine 223 will do a great job at what they pride themselves in, being Firefighters.
