Villa Park Towne Centre

One of the highlights each year of this popular evening event is the parade of costumed youngsters (and dogs), all with the hopes of winning a wonderful prize. This will continue to be the trend during our 11th annual event. However, this year, the 50th Anniversary Committee is adding additional challenges to those, young and old, willing to break out of the usual princess, vampire, or robot mode. Kids, parents and animals dressed in costumed attire reflecting the Sixties (the founding era of the City of Villa Park) or the 2012 celebratory year in The Hidden Jewel, will have the opportunity to “Go for the Gold” special Anniversary prizes. Maybe it will be an Elvis impersonator, a Hippie in psychedelic print bellbottoms with a peace sign medallion, an Afro-wigged Chubby Checker or someone wrapped in the VP Anniversary flag that takes home the some of the honors. The Sixties were a time of several fashion trends reflecting social movements. Now is the time to let your imagination soar backwards to this era.
The good news is that the established traditions of HalloweenFest will live on, thanks to Julia Peterson, our “Ghostess with the Mostess” and her wonderful “Boo Crew” of Nicol Jones, Francine Sawyer, Susan Powell, Holly Von Ting, Julie Krodel, and Susanna Shortall. Children in the community can look forward to going on a hayride, entering the coloring and/or pumpkin decorating contest plus pictures with a pro photographer along with the “dollar crafts”. The “no tricks…just treats” attitude rules as young costumed clientele have the opportunity to visit City Hall, the Library and Towne Centre merchants.
Local organizations and other vendors will have lots of yummies for tummies, too. Are the Rotary Batwurst or Halloweenies your traditional HalloweenFest dinner? Groups wishing to have a booth for HalloweenFest are asked to complete the vendor registration form noted above.
