Although Government Code Section 36516 authorizes the enactment of an ordinance providing a salary for each member of the City Council, there shall be no salary for any member of the City Council in the City of Villa Park (VPMC Section 2-2.1). However, there are certain meetings and conferences that are paid for by the City which are tracked with the FY 2011-12 travel and meeting report.

Information is presented by position, and includes budgeted salary as well as benefit costs for the fiscal year. Benefit costs include contributions for medical, dental and other insurances, retirement, and benefits or allowances that may be applicable to the individual job classification.

Further, in 2010 the California State Controller’s Office initiated a program that requires local government agencies to submit a report to their office to report employee compensation information including benefits.
